A man is in critical condition after he is shot by a Tulsa Police officer late Sunday night. The incident happened as officers were wrapping up a burglary investigation in the 4800 block of North Iroquois. It is unknown how or if the man was related to the incident.

Tulsa Police officers say the man drove up to the house and they believe he was under the influence and that is why he was acting strange. Police say as they were talking to the man in his car, the man put the car in reverse. A Tulsa Police officer tried to put the car back in park, when the man reached down for something. Police say that is when an officer fired three rounds, hitting the suspect twice in the upper torso.

Police say the man was taken to a Tulsa hospital for surgery, but he is expected to survive.

Tulsa Police officers say they searched the man’s vehicle and found a bottle of what they believe was PCP and possibly a large knife. Police have not yet released the name of the suspect.

The Tulsa Police officer who shot the man has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
