DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Lorena Ochoa is the new top ranked woman golfer in the world. The Mexican star replaced Annika Sorenstam despite the LPGA Tour
being off last week.
Ochoa's six wins last year and five top-Ten finishes in six events this year helped overtake Sorenstam. The rankings are based on a 104-week rolling period with more weight given to performances in the most recent 13 weeks.
Ochoa had previous opportunities to supplant Sorenstam had she been able to win the Kraft Nabisco a month ago or the Ginn Open that ended April 15th.
