Oklahoma School Kids Return To The Old West

Updated:
Second graders at Tulsa's Regent Preparatory School circled the wagons Tuesday, getting a taste of life as a pioneer. Students studied westward expansion and the pioneers this year, and Tuesday they actually got a taste of what American pioneers did on a daily basis.

"We make butter and bread, we wash clothes on a scrub board, we fish at the pond, we do some leather tooling, play some music, do square dancing and sing some songs and we just have a grand time," teacher Donna Martin said.

Mrs. Martin says it is days like Tuesday that students realized just how hard early Americans worked on things we sometime take for granted.
