Storm System Spawns At Least One Tornado

Updated:
Thunderstorms returned to northeastern Oklahoma on Wednesday. A line of severe weather developed across Osage County Wednesday morning, dumping heavy rain and small hail in rural Osage County. On Tuesday, a powerful spring storm system produced at least one tornado in Osage County. A twister touched down about 3:30 p.m., five miles northwest of Pawhuska in Osage County, the National Weather Service reported. There were no reports of damage or injury with the storm, one of several that moved across the state on Tuesday.

Near Hugo in southeastern Oklahoma, it was straight-line winds instead of a tornado that damaged a hay barn and shop building and knocked down some trees, authorities said. There were no injuries reported with that storm either.

Wind gusts of 65 to 70 m.p.h. were reported near Newalla, the weather service said. A 64-m.p.h. gust was reported near Perry and gusts of up to 53 m.p.h. were found in Osage and Pittsburg counties, authorities said.

Ardmore picked up 2.1 inches of rain, followed by 1.71 inches at Stillwater. Tishomingo received 1.53 inches of precipitation and 1.51 inches was recorded at Centrahoma.
