GREENSBURG, Kan. (AP) -- Greensburg residents are being asked to evacuate the town because of forecasts of severe weather.

The Weather Service says thunderstorms over western Kansas could move across Kiowa County by this evening. Storms could produce gusty winds of 40 to 50 miles per hour and some hail.

The chance for severe storms is greater tomorrow, with large hail and wind gusts over 60 miles per hour in the forecast. Heavy rainfall also is expected.

Greensburg is undergoing an extensive clean-up after a deadly tornado struck earlier this month, nearly leveling the town.

Kansas Adjutant General Tod Bunting says public safety is the primary concern.
