Tulsa County prosecutors have dismissed charges against a former Tulsa Talons football player, but they are asking for a new trial. Rovon Butler faced first-degree rape and forcible sodomy charges in a case from 2005.

A retrial had been scheduled for Butler after the first proceeding resulted in a mistrial on two counts and an acquittal on a third.

Butlerâ€™s attorney maintains Butler had consensual sex with the woman who has accused him. Butler, a receiver and a defensive back, played for the Talons in 2004.
