A biohazard drill is conducted at the U.S. Post Office on Monday. The postal service, fire department and police were working together to simulate an anthrax contamination.

Employees were evacuated and kept separate from the hazardous material to prevent further cross-contamination. Then the fake contaminated letter was removed and sent off for decontamination.

The News On 6 spoke with some of the crews on the scene; they say exercises like this are vital in keeping everyone safe.

"Terrorism and acts of terrorism are not something that can happen, it has happened here,” said Tulsa Fire Department Captain Larry Bowles. “Especially since 9-11 there have been several postal incidents that involved hazardous materials"

Another drill will take place in one year. Monday’s exercise was followed by an after action meeting where officials made necessary adjustments to protocol.
