OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Severe thunderstorms spawned at least two brief tornadoes in western Oklahoma Wednesday evening, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injury. One twister touched down about three miles west of Orienta in Major County about 6:31 p.m. and remained on the ground for two minutes, the National Weather Service reported.

Another storm touched down in the same area about 6:42 p.m. south of U.S. Highway 412 and remained on the ground for two minutes, the weather service reported.

The storms formed ahead of a storm system that approached Oklahoma from the west on Wednesday. The system tracked into warm, humid and breezy conditions, setting the stage for severe storm development.

In southwestern Oklahoma, a 77-mph wind gust was reported four miles west of Erick, the weather service reported.
