LANGSTON, Okla. (AP) -- His team has lost nine offensive starters from the 2006 squad, but Langston football coach Greg Johnson sees a successful season ahead.

Johnson's belief that defense wins championships may be tested as he looks to focus on that until the offense has a chance to get its bearings.

The Lions released their 2007 schedule today, and Langston has drawn opponents that include perennial NAIA powerhouse Northwestern Oklahoma.

Langston begins its season September 1st against instate rival Panhandle State in Goodwell. The Lions continue their road stand through the month of September, drawing Evangel as an opponent on September eighth; Lane College September 15th; Lincoln Univeristy on September 22nd and the Saint Louis Gateway Classic on the 29th.

The Lions return home on October sixth for a game against Texas College, following by its matchup with Northwestern Oklahoma on the 13th. Games against Southern Nazarene and Bacone College end the season.
