United Way volunteers announced their 2007 campaign goal, $23,266,434. This year’s goal tops last year's amount by about 3%. The United Way says this campaign is critical for the more than 650,000 people who depend on its services.
"The need is very great, and very real, and it keeps growing and will keep growing so we have to make sure our umbrella of services are there," United Way CEO Kathleen Coan said.
This year's campaign is extra meaningful for United Way CEO Kathleen Coan. She's retiring after 20 years on the job.
The fundraising campaign kicks off on the first Friday of September and runs through November 15th.
