NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- A Norman North High School science teacher and former girls' basketball coach who's charged with rape and sodomy is resigning.
Lynn Lewallen had been placed on leave but school officials say she has turned in her resignation.
She's is accused of having sexual relations with a 16-year-old female student from February through May and is charged with two counts of sodomy and two counts of rape by instrumentation.
Lewallen has worked in the Norman district since 1996 and was the Norman North High School girls' basketball head coach from 1997 to 2004.
Lewallen faces up to 20 years in prison on each sodomy charge and five years to life on the rape counts.
