PURCELL, Okla. (AP) -- Country music singer Johnny Rodriguez is facing felony drug charges in Oklahoma. Prosecutors in McClain County are charging Rodriguez with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana and driving under the influence of drugs.

Rodriguez was stopped for speeding in Blanchard just southwest of Oklahoma City and police say they found what appears to be marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and an open container of beer in his pickup truck.

The 55-year-old singer from Laredo, Texas, had six #1 hits on the country charts in the 1970s including "That's The Way Love Goes."

Rodriguez is free on $6,500 bail and is due in McClain County court on July 18th.
