Colorado man accused of killing parents returned to Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) _ A Colorado man charged with capital murder for allegedly killing his parents in Alabama has returned there for trial.

Police say 28-year-old Brent Springford Junior was transferred Saturday from Jefferson County, Colorado, to the Montgomery County, Alabama, detention center.

The Greeley, Colorado, resident is accused of traveling to Alabama last November, killing his parents on Thanksgiving Day, and stealing their car.

It was later recovered near Tulsa, Oklahoma -- and authorities caught up with Springford in early December at a Colorado psychiatric hospital, where he'd gone shortly after the killings.

He'd been fighting extradition ever since.

Springford is scheduled to make his first appearance in district court Tuesday.
