Schools across northeastern Oklahoma got a big boost again this year from the Cherokee Nation.

$1.8-million from revenue generated from the sale of Cherokee Nation car tags was presented to 14 schools at an education summit at the Cherokee Nation complex in Tahlequah.

Education funding is distributed based on the number of Cherokee children in each of their district schools. The schools receive around $100 for each Cherokee student.
