OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The price of gasoline is up by an average of six cents per gallon in Oklahoma since last week, according to AAA Oklahoma.

The average price for a gallon of self-serve regular in Oklahoma was $1.85 Wednesday, and is the 11th-lowest average price nationwide.

Wednesday's average price in Oklahoma is 30 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, said AAA spokesman Chuck Mai.

The average price in both Oklahoma City and Tulsa is $1.84 per gallon, up 7 cents from last week in Oklahoma City and an increase of 8 cents per gallon over last week in Tulsa.

``Industry observers tell us these higher prices are the result of cold weather in parts of the U.S. and much of Western Europe,'' Mai said.

The nationwide average is $1.92 per gallon with the lowest average price, $1.79, in South Carolina and the highest average, $2.40, in Hawaii.
