NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Veteran broadcast journalist Ronald Merrill died Friday in Norman. He was 60.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.

A graduate of Tulsa Central High School, Merrill received his degree in journalism from the University of Tulsa.

He was a correspondent for the U.S. Army during the war in Vietnam.

After returning from the war, he worked as a photographer for the Tulsa World and as a producer for a Tulsa television station.

Merrill had a lengthy career as a television broadcast producer, working in Minnesota, Texas, Florida and Colorado before joining the Associated Press.

He was a regional television executive for the AP, where he was responsible for several midwestern states, including Oklahoma.
