Fire destroys apartments, Iraqi woman's possessions

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An apartment fire Saturday forces an Iraqi woman to begin just as she started in Oklahoma City _ with just the clothes on her back.

Ban Adil Sarhan fled Iraq nearly a year ago after her husband, 4 year old daughter and mother-in-law were murdered by insurgents in Baghdad.

She arrived in Okalhoma City with her infant son and spent the last year going to school and working to build a new life.

Virtually all of her possessions -- including pictures of her slain daughter and husband -- was destroyed in yesterday's fire.

A grease fire that started in another apartment quickly spread through Sarhan's apartment building in central Oklahoma City. No one was injured in the three-alarm blaze.
