The Look and Design of the Rose Bowl

The pins have fallen for the last time at the Rose Bowl. These lanes are closed for good.
The Rose Bowl will probably be remembered for the fun had on the inside

Bill Ryan, Architect: "It had good exposure there being on Route 66 of course it still has good exposure."

Award-winning Architect Bill Ryan, the man behind the infamous Broken Arrow church on the hill and East Central High School, he also designed the Rose Bowl's unique domes.

Bill Ryan, Architect: "It was one of those fun jobs that we got to do I even designed the carpet in the Rose Bowl they had that made up special by Philadelphia Mills."

Ryan's design has stood the test of time. But now that the Rose Bowl has closed its doors for good he wonders what's in store for his domed creation.

Bill Ryan, Architect: "your first thought is if I design a school I want it to be a school if I design a bowling alley I want it to be a bowling alley if I design a church I want it to be a church."

His original intention aside, Ryan says the space is flexible.

Bill Ryan, Architect: "That building you can knock all the walls out and the shell would still stand."
"... uh so it would be an easy building to modify for many different uses."

And anything would be better than watching it be destroyed.

Bill Ryan, Architect: "Thats hurtful its hurtful but still they gotta do what they gotta do I guess."

Hopefully Tulsa will be able to keep its Rose.
