OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The American Medical Association will honor Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson.

Edmondson will receive the 2005 Doctor Nathan Davis Award for Outstanding Public Service.

Edmondson was nominated for his efforts to improve the quality of care people get at the end of life.

During his term as president of the National Association of Attorneys General, Edmondson focused on legal issues surrounding end-of-life care and what legal officials in other states can do to ensure state and federal polices are being met.

Edmondson is expected to receive the award this week. He was nominated by Myra Christopher, president and CEO for the Center for Practical Bioethics and Doctor Gary Johnson, an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
