ALDERSON, Okla. (AP) _ Workers from several state agencies are filling an abandoned mine the runs under US 270 near Alderson.
The mine was discovered in December when a hole opened up in the middle of the highway near Alderson in southeastern Oklahoma.
At one time the hole was as wide as 12 feet across and several loads of gravel didn't fill it in.
Tuesday, workers bored holes in the highway to see which way the mine shaft went before hitting the path. Now workers are filling it with concrete, at least three truckloads.
Officials say it could two to three days to finish.
