A wild turkey may have found an unlikely new home in Tulsa.

The bird showed up over the weekend at the Town Village Independent Living Center near 81st and Yale. It's been peeping into doors and windows. It’s won the hearts of residents who've been feeding it bread and popcorn.

The center's director wonders if the turkey's sudden appearance might have something to do with what they were serving up for dinner. Wanda Inman, Town Village director: "Well, today we did have roasted turkey on the menu. So I'm really glad that he was still around. So the residents wouldn't think he was part of our dinner today."

The folks at Town Village haven't decided yet what to do with their new friend. In the meantime, the turkey has become a local celebrity. Curious neighbors stop by to take pictures and see the bird for themselves.

The News on 6 also received reports about a week ago that 2 turkeys were hanging around the parking lot near KRMG's studio at 71st and Yale.
