(Suva, Fiji-AP) -- Amateur U-S sleuths are combing Fiji for a
crate that could contain the bones of aviation pioneer Amelia
Earhart.

The team is the latest to try to solve the mystery of the Kansas
aviator's disappearance. Members have unprecedented access to most
Fiji government buildings in the search.

There is a snag, though.

Fiji's president is withholding permission to search his
official residence. And that's where the team hopes to find clues
to the whereabouts of the crate.

Earhart vanished in 1937 while trying to become the first woman
to fly around the world. Most authorities believe she and her
navigator crashed into the Pacific between New Guinea and Hawaii.
