(Tulsa-AP) -- More Oklahomans on Medicare will be able to select
managed care options through PacifiCare of Oklahoma beginning early
next year.

The federal government gave the insurance company permission
today to expand its managed care coverage for Medicare
beneficiaries in the state. The plan is called Secure Horizons.

PacifiCare will be able to offer the managed care plan for the
first time in Cherokee, Lincoln, Mayes and Nowata counties. The
service will be expanded in Canadian, Creek, Cleveland, Logan,
McClain, Okfuskee, Rogers, Tulsa and Wagoner counties. Those
counties now are only partially served by PacifiCare.

PacifiCare serves all of Oklahoma County as well as parts of
Grady, Osage, Pottawatomie and Washington counties.

The signup period begins this month with the service starting
January first.
