MIAMI, Okla. (AP) -- The judge presiding over a foster parent's
first-degree murder trial is reviewing media coverage of the case
to determine whether to grant a motion for a change of venue.

The trial of James Clayton Millhollin, 33, was to have begun
this week in Ottawa County District Court. Millhollin is accused of
last year's beating death of 5-year-old Michael Buxton, who was in
Millhollin's care.

Defense attorney Silas R. Lymon II asked the court last week to
move the trial to another location. Lymon cited pretrial publicity
in his request.

District Judge Robert Reavis has taken the request under
advisement. He said Monday he would set the trial date after he had
a chance to review all the newspaper articles.

Michael Buxton was taken to the hospital July 4, 1998, for
treatment of a head injury. He died less than a day later at a
Tulsa hospital.

Millhollin's wife, Shelly, claimed that her husband had been
abusing the boy since early June 1998. Mrs. Millhollin has since
filed for divorce.
