McQuarters accused of public intoxication

(Tulsa-AP) -- Former Oklahoma State football standout R-W McQuarters is arrested for public intoxication in Tulsa.

Police records indicate that the San Francisco 49ers cornerback and kick returner was arrested on a public intoxication complaint over the weekend.

The arrest came after police responded to a report of a bar fight.

The arresting officer's reports say the 23-year-old McQuarters had a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and a staggered gait.

The officer also says McQuarters was -- quote -- "belligerent with officers."

McQuarters was an All-Big 12 player at Oklahoma State and was a first-round draft pick of the 49ers in 1998.

He missed the final four games of last season due to a fractured shoulder blade.
