TOKYO (AP) â€” Japan collected 25 hits, including an inside-the-park grand slam, and beat the United States 26-8 in the first U.S.-Japan women's baseball game Monday.
Jill Haas of Temple University hit a triple and scored the first run on a double by Jackie Chin of Florida Legends during a three-run first inning for the United States.
In the fifth, Terri Herbst of New Jersey Diamonds hit a two-run triple after singles by Chin and Tamara Ivie of Colorado Silver.
Chin went 4-for-5 and had four stolen bases.
In the fourth, Eriko Nagano ignited a seven-run rally for Japan with a double against Haas. Kazumi Morii hit the grand slam during a seven-run seventh.
