Vegas glitter may win it a road designation

Updated:
(Las Vegas-AP)-- The dazzle of Las Vegas may soon translate to an official designation of the Vegas Strip as an All American road.

Tourism officials in Nevada have been pushing Congress for the designation and lawmakers are expected to make the decree this summer.

Yesterday, during a National Tourism Week ceremony, Nevada Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt dedicated a marker near the
three-mile long strip, proclaiming it as a scenic byway.

The roadway features over 15-thousand miles of neon tubing, and ushers more than 33 (m) million tourists into the gambling mecca each year.
