LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Police are investigating a University of Kansas soccer player's report that she was fondled, spanked and taunted by two Kansas football players.
The woman said Kansas football coach Terry Allen discouraged her from telling police she had been sexually attacked outside a Lawrence night club Feb. 27. No charges have been filed and the players have not been identified.
The woman went to the police April 26, two months after the alleged battery. Police made the report public Tuesday.
Police Sgt. George Wheeler said officers were investigating but that neither football player had been arrested.
The woman didn't immediately go to police about the incident, she said, because Allen promised he would punish the players in an ``appropriate way'' if she didn't press charges.
``The only punishment they got was they had to run stairs at the stadium one day,'' she said Tuesday
Allen said Wednesday that he told the woman he would support her if she reported the incident to police, and that he would handle it with the two players.
``I was not, in any way, trying to make a deal with the student-athlete for her not to report this matter to the police,'' Allen said. ``The actions that I have taken related to this incident are not limited to what has been reported by the media.''
Allen said the players would be dismissed from the team if convicted of a crime.
