(Tulsa-AP) -- Undersecretary of State Thomas R- Pickering told the Class of 2000 Oklahoma Academic All-Staters to consider a career in foreign policy.
Pickering told the students at the awards ceremony in Tulsa that foreign policy has an impact on domestic life.
Pickering says 16,000 new jobs were created directly in the state from foreign policy. He says the pay is terrible, but there are other rewards like touring the world and representing your country.
Pickering is working on increasing drug enforcement funding.
He says the U-S has had good success in reducing demand for drugs. But Pickering says the U-S needs further reduce the supply of drugs.
