Deer Management Decision

Updated:
(Oklahoma City-AP) - The Oklahoma Wildlife Commission voted 7 to 0 Monday to encourage the deer management steering committee to further develop its plan for herd management. The trespassing concerns of landowners were addressed along with hunter opportunities and length of hunting seasons. The steering committee had recommended that the bag limit be changed to three does and two bucks and make hunters able to take a doe for 18 days during gun and primitive firearms seasons. If the commission approves the final proposal, it would then go to the Legislature and the governor. The steering committee was made up of 32 members from hunting, landowner, biologist and other interested groups. The steering committee will meet again in August.
