Tulsa coach search focuses on three candidates

(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa's basketball head coaching search is reportedly focusing on three candidates.

Sources told the Tulsa World that the Golden Hurricane may be ready to choose between Tulsa assistant Norm Roberts, Texas-San Antonio head coach Tim Carter and Appalachian State head coach Buzz Peterson.

Roberts interviewed on Tuesday with Carter interviewing yesterday.

Peterson is scheduled to interview on Saturday. But Peterson reportedly has avoided contact with T-U most of the week while mourning the death of player Rufus Leach, who drowned last Friday. Leach's funeral is scheduled for Friday.

The search committee consists of Tulsa President Robert Lawless, athletic director Judy MacLeod, Fulton Collins and Bob West.
