Okmulgee top cop moves to Bartlesville

(Okmulgee-AP) -- Okmulgee Police Chief Leo Willey (WILL'-ee) is moving northeast to become Bartlesville's top cop.
Willey take over as Bartlesville's police chief on July tenth. Willey will fill a vacancy created when Police Chief Steve Brown became city manager.
Okmulgee's crime rate dropped 53 percent during Willey's five year tenure as police chief.
Willey instituted several citizen involvement programs, including one in which cell phone-toting retirees were stationed outside schools to deter drug or gang activity.
Willey has more than 31 years experience in law enforcement, including 20 with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office in Kansas.
