Stabbing victim dies at hospital

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Police arrested a man on a first-degree murder complaint in connection with a fatal stabbing Sunday afternoon.

Officers were called to the east-side residence of Juan Coronado around 12:40 p.m. They found the 33-year-old with multiple stab wounds to the head, neck, face and throat. Coronado was taken to Hillcrest Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

While police were investigating the crime, Gilberto Prado, 23, arrived on the scene to turn himself in, officials said.

"He fled the scene and somehow came in contact with his brother and his brother told him to go back to the scene and turn himself in to authorities," Tulsa police officer Lucky Lamons said.

Sunday's homicide was Tulsa's 28th this year. That number is down from a comparable period in 1999, when there was a total of 43 homicides.
