Muskogee man convicted in nightclub shooting

(Muskogee-AP) -- A Muskogee man has been convicted of first-degree manslaughter for the 1998 shooting death of a woman at a Muskogee nightclub.

The jury in Muskogee then recommended that Frederick Allen Thompson spend not less than 30 years in prison.

The jury deliberated for just under three hours yesterday before convicting Thompson of killing LaTasha Cherie Ingram.

Ingram's mother, Helen Ingram, said she's heartbroken after the jury convicted Thompson of manslaughter, instead of the original charge of first-degree murder.

Formal sentencing for Thompson will be December 14th.
