Top-ranked teams continue to win

Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The top-ranked teams in the weekly Oklahoma Associated Press high school football poll had no trouble holding their spots during Week 9.

Jenks in Class 6A, Clinton in 4A, Davis in 2A and Paoli in Class C all shut out their opponents last week. The toughest game for a top-ranked team involved Ada, which beat No. 6 Tulsa East Central 28-14 in Class 5A. The loss dropped East Central just one spot in this week's balloting by writers and broadcasters.

There were only a handful of losses by teams ranked in the top five of their class.

Putnam City North, No. 5 in Class 6A, was upset by unranked Putnam City West 24-13 and as a result fell to eighth this week. In 5A, fifth-ranked Tulsa Kelley lost to unranked Bixby, 20-14. Kelley is now 10th and Bixby moved into the rankings at No. 9.

Weatherford retained its No. 5 spot in 4A after losing 19-14 to third-ranked Star Spencer. In Class 2A, second-ranked Eufaula was beaten 20-0 by No. 6 Cascia Hall. Eufaula is now ranked seventh and Cascia Hall is fifth.
