(Sapulpa-AP) -- A convicted sex offender is charged with sodomy and raping a 15-year-old Creek County girl.

Creek County prosecutors charged Danny Joe Boomershine with forcible sodomy and rape by instrumentation for the July 25th assault.

The teen-ager told police that Boomershine was drinking while she drove his vehicle. She says Boomershine told her to stop on a county road where he took her out of the car and assaulted her.

Boomershine was convicted of attempted first-degree rape and indecent exposure in Oklahoma County in 1980.

In 1976 he was convicted of first-degree rape in Missouri.

Boomershine was not subject to the state's Sex Offenders Registration Act because his convictions came before the law went into effect.
