Gaylord dropping plans for Wildhorse Saloon

(Nashville, Tennessee-AP) -- Gaylord Entertainment is dropping plans to open a string of Wildhorse Saloon nightclubs.

The company has already projected a 50 (m) million dollar loss for the year and will lose about eleven (m) million dollars more to pull out of a club at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The Orlando club was Gaylord's second Wildhorse Saloon. The original in Nashville, Tennessee will not be affected, according to Gaylord spokesman Steve Buchanan.

Buchanan says the company was considering putting the nightclubs in several cities when it opened the one in Orlando in 1998. He says the company will not pursue that strategy, and that a single, remote, establishment doesn't fit into the current business plan.

E-K Gaylord the Second is the chairman of Gaylord Entertainment and is also president of The Oklahoma Publishing Company, which publishes The Daily Oklahoman.
