(Nashville-AP) -- Country superstar Garth Brooks has filed for divorce after nearly 14 years with wife Sandy.
The 38-year-old cited irreconcilable differences in a complaint filed Monday in Davidson County Circuit Court. According to the court papers, the couple has been separated since March 1999.
Brooks has sold more than 100 million albums, and is known for hits like ``The Dance'' and ``Friends in Low Places.''
He recently announced he would retire after releasing an album next year, in order to spend more time with his children.
The couple has three daughters -- ages eight, six and four. They have homes in Tennessee and Oklahoma.
