SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) -- Creek County prosecutors have filed a shooting with intent to kill charge against a Sapulpa man who allegedly shot his son with a pistol during an argument last month.

Miles Bruner, 62, was charged Wednesday in the Oct. 28 wounding of Wayne Bruner, 40, at a church campsite south of Sapulpa, court records show.

Hit in the abdomen by a .38 caliber revolver, Wayne Bruner was treated and released at Tulsa Regional Medical Center.

Following the shooting, the father was treated for a beating he suffered at the hands of his son, Creek County Sheriff Larry Fugate said. The sheriff didn't know the extent of Miles Bruner's injuries, he said.

Miles Bruner faces imprisonment from two to 20 years upon conviction, according to state statutes. He was released from jail after posting $35,140 bail, records indicate. Miles Bruner is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 21.

Deputies from the Creek County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting the afternoon of Oct. 28. The elder Bruner takes care of the camp where his son also lives, Fugate said.

Wayne Bruner's wife, Tina, hid during the incident, but apparently witnessed it, records show.

The woman eventually fled the house and went to a nearby smoke shop, where she called 911, authorities said.
