A Tulsa neighborhood is hoping to plant the seeds of success. A community garden is growing in Tulsa's Kendall-Whittier neighborhood. I

t used to be a parking lot, but now there are more than 30 plots, with vegetables of all kinds. The property is actually owned by the city, but it was turned into a garden with private donations. It gives folks in the neighborhood a chance to turn an eyesore into something of beauty, and to get to know each other.

Local gardener, John Dewell, "I wouldn't have known some of these people if I wouldn't have stopped here, but they're the salt of the earth, and they care about their gardens, let me tell you." The gardeners hope their success will encourage other neighborhoods to plant gardens of their own.

If you need some gardening advice or encouragement, the Kendell-Whittier garden is hosting a garden party for people to learn more about the project this Saturday.
