Trial date set in John Pickle Company lawsuit

(Tulsa-AP) -- An October 21st trial date is set in a federal lawsuit that alleges a Tulsa company kept foreign workers underpaid and living in slavelike conditions.

Fifty-three workers say they were lured from India by John Pickle Company with the promise of high-paying, long-term jobs. Instead they say they were paid less than minimum wage and locked in dormitories when they weren't working.

Attorneys for the maker of oil refinery equipment deny the allegations.

The workers have applied for visas that would let them hold other jobs. They are being cared for by church and charity groups.
