A man rapes a woman who was walking through a Tulsa park, and it's done right in front of her little girl. It happened last Sunday night.
News on Six reporter Emory Bryan says the suspect is the kind of guy that pushes little girls and attacks women walking home from church. The victim - a married woman in her 30's - was walking through this park with her daughter - when a man knocked her down and raped her.
The victim attends Open Bible Fellowship Church on 71st Street. After services Sunday night - she was walking home and cut through Graham Park near 63rd and Yorktown - where the attacker first confronted her. Tulsa Police Detective Cindy Massey, "He tried to take her purse from her, she kept her purse back and pulled out her wallet and gave that to him and once he got into her wallet he got her check card and five or six dollars, which was all she had with her at the time."
The victim got away - but there was no one around to help her. The park is wooded - but she may have felt there was safety in a clearing right by the swings - where children often play.
But the attacker returned. "The black male came up from behind and pushed her to the ground as she was walking and pushed her into the mud face first and proceeded to sexually assault her at that point with the little girl watching off the side crying.†The victim got a good look at the man and helped police create a sketch.
The police hope someone can identify him - because they believe since he attacked a total stranger and used a knife, he's likely to do it again, but he gets away with it. As for the victim - she walked to a friend’s house - who called police. "She was obviously muddy, her shirt was torn, she was exposed, she had no shoes on, and she was in terrible distress."
The suspect was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a red bandana. Police say he was drinking - and would have been muddy afterward.
