Tulsa's Edison High School gets new driver's ed car

Driver’s education students at Edison High School will soon be learning their lessons in a brand new car.

The Indian Nations Council of Governments presented Edison with a new 2002 Toyota Prius as a reward for winning the Driving Toward Clean Air Pilot Project. Students were awarded a point per week if they carpooled, biked, walked or rode a bus at least three times a week.

Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent David Sawyer praised the students for their hard work. “It's a wonderful new car and it's also a special one. It's called a green vehicle, which is a combination of gasoline and electric fuel, and I understand it gets 47 miles to the gallon, which is really great. We're real proud of them."

Charles Page, Sperry and Central High Schools, and Owasso Mid-High also competed in the clean air pilot project.
