US Senator Jim Inhofe concerned about Lott's impact on GOP

Updated:
Oklahoma US Senator Jim Inhofe is "not" calling for Trent Lott to step down yet. But Inhofe says he's concerned about Lott's comments and his efforts to apologize for them.

News on Six anchor Terry Hood talked with Inhofe about the impact the controversy is having on the Republican Party. "Trent Lott is not a racist, but he allowed them to pull him into this thing, to make it sound like he is. Then all of a sudden he jumped into these programs he 's never been in before and said I think I've been wrong all these years. And it just doesn't make any sense. So I was disappointed about Trent Lott.”

News on Six anchor Terry Hood, “And the way he's handled it.” Senator Inhofe, “and the way he's handled it. I can't imagine if someone had written out a script, how he could have handled it worse.”

Republican senators meet January 6th to decide if Lott should continue to lead them.
