Body found four days after house fire

(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma City firefighters found a scorched body in a burned home four days after they extinguished a blaze there and found no one inside.

Fire Major Brian Stanaland says the home burned early Christmas morning.

Neighbors told firefighters an elderly man lived there but did not know whether he was home. Firefighters searched the house several times during and after the blaze and found no one.

A crew returned to the home yesterday morning as part of an educational evaluation. While inside, they found a burned body in the kitchen -- the most damaged part of the house.

The body is at the medical examiner's office and identification has not been confirmed.

Stanaland says authorities have not heard from any relatives.
