West Tulsa house fire under investigation

A Tulsa family lost its pet when fire swept through their home early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the west Tulsa home at 4700 block of 33rd West Avenue around 6:30. Everyone in the home got out safely. However, the garage where the family dog stayed was engulfed in flames and smoke.

Tulsa Fire Department District Chief Pat Rummert, “we did have a report from the occupant that he had an electric blanket in the garage for the to help keep the dog warm and we're checking, investigating at this time to see if that may have been the cause.”

Damage is estimated at $20,000.
