OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A task force to examine security at state buildings was announced Tuesday by Gov. Frank Keating.

Bob Ricks, public safety commissioner, will head the panel. Other members are Pam Warren, secretary of administration and central services director; Albert Ashwood, director of the Department of Civil Emergency Management; and Oscar Jackson, state personnel director and secretary of human resources.

``There is no function of government more critical than ensuring public safety,'' Keating said. ``The vicious acts of terrorism we witnessed last week have made that fact abundantly clear.''

Keating said the task force will endeavor to balance the need for safety with the public's fair access to government.

He said Ricks will consider adding additional members such as representatives of the Legislature and the judiciary.
