OU-Texas football

(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma's biggest game of the season is Saturday against fifth-ranked Texas.

If history means anything, the Sooners from Norman should play well and are likely to win.

In two-plus years under Bob Stoops, Oklahoma has been at its best in big games. The third-ranked Sooners are 8-and-1 against Associated Press Top-25 opponents, and they're 4-and-0 against Top-10 teams.

Those four Top-10 victories came last year en route to the national title.

Oklahoma beat number two Kansas State and number one Nebraska in back-to-back games. The team beat number eight Kansas State in the Big-12 title game, then beat number three Florida State in the Orange Bowl.

Oklahoma's only loss to a ranked team under Stoops came in his first season. It was 1999 when number twenty-three Texas rallied from an early 17-to-nothing deficit to win 38-to-28.

Stoops says last year's win against Texas gave the Sooners confidence that in all situations, they have the opportunity to win.
