OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The special session of the Legislature recessed Thursday morning and lawmakers planned to resume next week.

Senate President Pro Tem Stratton Taylor, D-Claremore, said more time is needed to build support for a bill that would make changes in the state's workers' compensation system.

The measure was designed to solve financial problems of a trust fund that is running out of money. The fund pays weekly checks to disabled workers.

Taylor said objections to the bill have been raised by both Democratic and Republican legislators.

He calls it a complex issue that's difficult to pass in a short, special session.

In the meantime, discussions will continue in an effort to find a compromise on the measure, Taylor said.
