Owasso Stripper-Gram Suspect To Stand Trial on Rape, Sexual Battery Counts

Updated:

(TULSA) - An Owasso man who allegedly posed as a striper to gain access to women's apartments is mentally competent to stand trial on sex crime charges, a Tulsa County judge has determined.

Special District Judge Clancy Smith's ruling on Monday was based on a report by a psychologist who evaluated Cory B. West, 29. Prosecutors have charged West with one count of first-degree rape and two counts of sexual battery.

The psychologist concluded that West could appreciate the nature of the charges, consult with his attorney and assist in preparing a defense, key issues in a competency assessment.

West was arrested July 3 after a woman reported being raped by a man after he got into her apartment under the guise of delivering a "stripper-gram."

He is accused of lewdly touching two other Tulsa women, records show.

Smith scheduled a Nov. 16 preliminary hearing for West. He remains free on $160,000 bail.
